Course Description:
Because adventure doesn’t just grow on trees...we take our 5-day adventure training inside in the winter.
Training will take place at Vermont Academy, an independent co-ed boarding and day school located in the picturesque town of Saxtons River, in the foothills of the Green Mountains. We’ll train on our brand new indoor course, and learn skills, games and initiatives in the lodge next to a large stone fireplace.
Whether you’d be traveling from near or far, this is not an opportunity to be missed - class size is limited to 15.
What you'll learn:
- Icebreakers and warm-ups, cooperative games, trust building exercises and problem-solving challenges.
- Basic skills related to the use of indoor low and high ropes course elements such as knots, belay and self belay techniques and selection and safe use of equipment.
- Games and initiatives unique to the indoor adaptations of ropes course elements and climbing walls.
- Tips for working with different groups, managing large groups.
- Safety issues pertaining to indoor courses, such as limiting access to elements and rescue considerations.
