Each year a team of students from the Manchester Youth Commission attends the Edge of Leadership® High School Summer Program to develop skills necessary for being a member of this team. MYC is highly respected at all levels of the community, reporting often directly to the mayor and town manager, and helping to make decisions about their future and the future of the Manchester community.

“Edge of Leadership is like a professional development opportunity for these young people,” says Heather Wlochowski, Youth Services Coordinator at MCYS, “to find their voice, to learn to communicate their thoughts and beliefs, and to do it in such a way that it’s valued by adults and others in their community. The High 5 staff, through their knowledge, personalities and the work itself make it possible for anyone to discover their own leadership skills.”
