FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brattleboro, VT — April 4, 2026 — High 5 Adventure Learning Center is proud to announce the release of its newest publication, Edge of Leadership, written by Ryan McCormick. The book offers a compelling exploration and unique take on youth leadership development rooted in connection, experiential learning, and real-world application.
Drawing from decades of experience in experiential learning, Edge of Leadership reflects High 5’s core philosophy—Connect. Empower. Lead. Be the Example —guiding readers through the moments that shape leadership in meaningful and lasting ways. The book is designed for educators, facilitators, youth development professionals, and emerging leaders seeking to foster authentic growth in themselves and others.
More than a traditional leadership book, Edge of Leadership emphasizes that transformation happens through everyday interactions—small, often overlooked moments where connection, trust, and courage take root. As highlighted in McCormick’s recent writing on the High 5 Adventure Learning Center blog, the work of leadership is deeply tied to supporting young people in vulnerable, formative moments and helping them navigate challenges with confidence and connection.
“People sometimes hesitate to call themselves leaders, often associating leadership with authority, specific titles, or certain personality traits,” said McCormick, “This approach invites us to redefine leadership on our own terms. Quiet support, active listening, thoughtful decision-making, or leading by example can all be just as influential as more traditional forms of leadership.”
Through storytelling, practical insights, and reflective prompts, the book brings to life the Edge of Leadership framework—an approach developed through years of hands-on programming and work with youth and educators. As both a program and a philosophy, Edge of Leadership has helped countless individuals build communication skills, self-awareness, and a stronger sense of community.
McCormick, who manages the Edge of Leadership program at High 5, has spent decades developing impactful leadership experiences for young people and educators alike. His work blends creativity, challenge, and reflection to help individuals discover their capacity to lead in authentic and meaningful ways.
The release of Edge of Leadership marks another milestone in High 5’s mission to strengthen individuals, teams, and communities through adventure-based learning. The book is available through High 5 Adventure’s online store and at select events, and is also available on Kindle.
